Over Rocks & Through Tunnels

I don’t know if anyone else is feeling or has felt this way lately, but I’ve felt weighed down and breathless in the midst of some tough circumstances that turned into tough days. The kind where you get up and everything just feels out of place and in turn makes you feel inadequate. I struggled with this on and off for a while, and finally came to a realization – these are not times to give up. They are chances to adapt and become better.

By that I mean this: things happen in life that are hard to combat. We deal with new challenges every week – every day, even. Sometimes those are rocks we have to climb over and sometimes they are tunnels we have to walk through. In the end, the best way for me to deal with them is to look at them as a chance to grow and move forward. There’s a light at the end of every tunnel and every mountain offers a new view.

In light of my decision that 2017 is going to be a step in the right direction for me, I am changing aspects of my life that I know will make my future better. I don’t know about you, but it’s easy for me to have a bad day or bad circumstance and let it control my thoughts and actions after it happens. (Which is silly, because it’s over and that time I take to be a crab is precious time I have to prevent another bad day.)

If you also feel like you sometimes let bad times have too much power, try deciding to quit letting them. Take steps in the right direction – do tasks in small chunks or make your day easier by doing practical things like making your breakfast before bed. I’m not one to give in to anything or anyone, and challenges are included in that group.
