What I’m Doing to Set the Tone for 2017

If you’ve seen any social media over the last few weeks, you know that most everyone seems to be counting 2016 as an unsuccessful year. I admit that not every moment of 2016 was comfortable or easy for me. However, I can’t say that it was unsuccessful. This year, the first thing I did to set the tone for 2017 was deciding to appreciate the last year and look at it as a chance to grow from the good and bad!

Another thing I’m trying out is a bullet journal. If you’re not familiar with what that is, it’s a way to plan your year out and set goals/keep track of what happens. Most of them are essentially personal planners that you design and draw out  yourself. I have previously attempted one of these, but I had waaaayyyy too short of patience and gave up about two pages in. *Cue the anxious Tweet I sent out the other night whilst trying to stop that from happening again:*

This year, I decided to give it a real shot. One thing that helped was creating a Pinterest board specifically for this task, because I allowed myself time to plan and process what I wanted the journal to accomplish for me.

Here’s a picture of my progress with it thus far. I’m pretty proud of myself for sticking with it:

Finally, I decided to write a prayer over the next year. I did this last year on New Years Day  and it really set the tone for how 2016 went. This year I wanted to keep the tradition and I have to say, it’s therapeutic in some ways – to spill out your heart on a piece of paper and decide how you want to approach the next year! Highly recommend it.
